2dB is best known for their dark electronica, haunting vocals, thick subs, sick beats, and emotional lyrics. Jeannie and Jo Ann have played at Future Music Festival Asia and Urbanscapes, and opened for international artists like FKJ, Bondax, CHVRCHES, and TOKiMONSTA. In 2015, they embarked on their first-ever international tour in South Korea.
An Honest Mistake comprises Darren Teh, Leonard Chua, Tomas Tam, and Ian Ng. Known for catchy earworms, the band has released three albums and been on countless tours, even to Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. They have also shared a stage with international acts Boys Like Girls, Motion City Soundtrack, and Against The Current.
Bassment Syndicate features Hiran Benton, Q Sound, Fook and Omar Ibrahim, best known for distinctive instrumental productions with elements of hip-hop, soul, R&B, and jazz. They have played at festivals like the International Jazz Day Festival and Raising the Bar, and performed for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their visit to Malaysia.
Blessed with a rich, soulful voice, Penang-born BIHZHU enchants audiences with her genuine songcraft that she calls 'heart music'. She is most known for her debut single “The Heart Way”, and penning lyrics for “We Will Believe Again”, the theme song for local “Ola Bola”. Currently, Bihzhu is working on her second album, slated for release in 2017.
Comprising Jone, Farouque, Lynn and Grace, FAZZ calls their blend of theatrical comedy, vaudeville, cabaret, rock & roll, jazz, Musical Pop. The band has played at regional festivals such as the Penang Island Jazz Festival 2013, the 2015 Haneda International Anime Music Festival, the George Town Festival 2015, and I Light Marina Bay 2016.
Froya is a singer with an eclectic repertoire encompassing genres from folk to electronica. She discovered her calling out of a songwriting venture, and is now a full time composer for TV commercials and film. She won the Best Sound Design award on a BMW Shorties submission, “Murdered”, and is currently working on her debut album.
GTxperiment consists of Clinton, Daryll, Mark and Jude. Best known for their multiple-lead-singer setup, GTX first performed during the inaugural MTV Aloft Star competition, which they won. They also played at the 2015 F1 after race concert alongside international stars, and are currently working on their first album.
Jared and Michael Lim met their neighbour Ryan David Gomes while playing futsal, and eventually discovered their shared passion for music. Life as Jumero began when they won a Star R.age open mic competition. Their debut performance was at Urbanscapes ’12 and since then, they’ve played at Urbanscapes ‘14, Guinness Amplify ‘14 and ICSF KOREA ‘15.
KissKillMary was formed in 2011 and comprises of Jenn Chia, Richard Lee, Sonny, Beng and Adrian Tan. Their music is a hard blend of pop, new wave, indie rock with dance elements. The band has been featured at venues such as IndiePG, No Black Tie and Laundry Bar. In September 2015, they released a mini album, “Labyrinth” which contains 7 tracks.
Kyoto Protocol are a five-piece outfit formed by Fuad, Gael, Hairi, Shaq and Shan, kick-starting a renaissance of rock & roll in Malaysia with their debut album in 2011. The band has played at numerous regional festivals, even scoring a coveted slot at FMFA 2013. They also appeared on Versus, a battle of the bands reality TV show in Malaysia.
Undulating grooves, soaring melodies and exquisite lyricism provide the foundations for the music of MACROPSIA, comprising producer Lee Williams and vocalist Froya. With a new album on the horizon and the contagious energy of their live appearances, MACROPSIA is en route to becoming a leading proponent of electronic music in the region and beyond.
Monoriff was founded by Niralji Ravishanker and Rakesh Joshua Daniel, college friends who shared a vision for music. Initially a five-member alternative rock band, Monoriff was influenced by other genres, eventually evolving into a techno pop duo. They released their first single, “Killing Your Own” last year, followed by “Take Me Down”.
Mystery Tapes is headed by singer-songwriter and radio deejay Zack Yusof, with Harvey Chamberlain and Shaneil Devaser on drums and bass respectively. Musical touchstones for this project are wide, varied and ever changing. The band debuted with their Unheard Songs EP, and are currently in the studio preparing a debut album for a late 2016 release.
Nick Yungkit has only been performing and writing since 2015, but has already gained considerable experience. He has performed at fashion week, college proms, weddings, The Voice: China, and opened for The Sam Willows. Nick is currently working on a single and a debut album showcasing his unique blend of R&B and pop.
Formed in August 2014, rock-pop outfit No Tyra consists of Aryton Soliano (vocals, guitars), Kieran Jumawan (guitars), Alvin John Michael (bass), Chanelle Guerzo (keyboards) and Jared Cheow (drums). Together, they aspire to inspire others to play music and write their own songs. The band has appeared on TTON on BFM 89.9, and talk show V-Buzz.
Paperplane Pursuit is a three-piece pop band comprising John O, Isaac Ravi and Dru Yap, and are known for their catchy hooks and infectious sing-along melodies. In July 2015, they released ‘Feel Good’ in the US, which broke the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream Indicator Chart in September. The band is currently working on a full length album.
Formed in February 2011, Pnormal consists of Adrian Dragon (keys, guitar and synth), Calvino Krishnan (guitar and vocals), and Nelson Chow (drums). Pnormal is self-funded when it comes to studio recording and producing. The band made their debut with their single, “May”, and hit No. 5 on the hitz.fm MET10 with their 2nd single, “Wilder”.
RELENT is a KL-based rock band whose sonic signature is a cross breed of powerpop, pop-punk and alternative rock. The band has released 2 EPs and toured across New Zealand, South Africa, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates. In August 2012, their hit track “Looking For A Savior” hit No. 1 song on the Hitz.fm MET 10 and BET 10 charts.
Originally from Borneo, Rozella started performing in her hometown in 2013. Her songs have been featured on the Hitz.fm MET10 and BET10 Charts. She won Tiger Jams 2016, and her single 'Home to You' was handpicked for an exclusive remix by Scottish synth pop band Chvrches. She was also nominated for two categories in this year's VIMA Music Awards.
Son Of A Policeman (SOAP) count smooth jazz, funk, R&B, hip hop, EDM and heavy-hitting rock among their musical influences. Despite their different musical backgrounds, Josh Ganesan, Axl Grey, Sean Michael and Zijunn Tan are in perfect harmony, playing various gigs nationwide, even walking away as the winner of Tune Studio’s Battle of the Bands.
Talitha Tan is known for her hauntingly beautiful voice and heartfelt compositions on love, heartbreak, and resilience. Besides performing at Urbanscapes, Publika Jazz Fest, and LENKA’s Asia Tour, she has also worked with artistes such as Ali Aiman, Darren Ashley and more. Talitha received a Best Female Artist nomination in the 2015 Met 10 Awards.
The Endleaves is a no-nonsense, in-your-face rock outfit comprising Shaneil Devaser, Riz Rashid, Krist Chong and Rashaad Ali. The band has played Fete de la Musique 2013, MDBF2013, Tres Fest and IMF2013. They released their debut single ‘Maple As She Glows’ in November 2013, followed by a full album in January 2014.
